8 Things You Need To Know About Fragrance Etiquette

Watching 'Sunrise' and 'Sunrise Daily' on Channels Television is one of my long standing morning rituals. It is a program that reviews and discusses current affairs alongside other interesting topics. The Saturday show usually ends with etiquette rules by Janet Adetu. I love Janet, she is a Certified Corporate Image and Professional Business Etiquette Consultant  and is also the Founder and Director of JSK Etiquette Consortium. I have learned so much from her over a long period of time. On Saturday she talked about Fragrance etiquette and I thought it wise to share her tips with you guys.

1. Wear your fragrance in moderation. Don' overdo it or it will become overpowering for you and others especially. Be considerate.

2. Where you are going and time of day should be top determinants of the type of perfume you wear and level of application. Wear light fragrances or spray lightly when going to places like the office, church, or visiting someone in the hospital. For night outs with friends or date nights with the boo, you can go a little heavier.

     3. Learn to heed to fragrance directives and policies. Some places or events have policies about wearing fragrance. If you are not so sure, you can ask questions.

4. Do fragrances wear off over time? Yes. Sometimes there is discolouration - they start becoming darker. When this happens, it's time to ditch and replace. To avoid this, store your fragrances in a cool place and avoid exposing them to direct sunlight.

5. Do not spray directly on your clothes. This could stain your clothes and end up being unpleasant to the eye. Imagine dressing up in your lovely white shirt and after spraying you find patches all over.  How annoying. So, to avoid perfume stain on your clothes, hold your perfume at a distance and spray or better still, spray in the air and walk under.

6.Don't rub your perfumes against your skin, doing this will crush the fragrance. After spraying just leave it to sink into your skin on its own.

7. The best points to spray for a long lasting effect are your pulse areas, behind your ears, and below your knees.

8. The best time to spray is when your pores are open. usually just after taking a bath. It has a long lasting effect, too.

I wish you guys a fabulous week ahead!
